Shooting Star Progression Terrain Park Entrance

Shooting Star Progression Terrain Park Features

 (entry-level/advanced - 16 features)

Entry-level Funboxes:  24’ funbox and a 16’ urban kick box
Entry-level Rails:  12’ mini rail and a 22’ straight rail
Entry-level Features:  rollers, banked turns, spines, and step-downs

All entry-level features are close to the snow so they are not intimidating.  They are also classified as ride-ons, meaning the snow slopes right up to the beginning of the box or rail.  No jumping required!  This is a wonderful thing for those of us that did not grow up with parks, rails, and pipes!

Morning Star Terrain Park Entrance

Morning Star Terrain Park Features

(advance/expert level - 10 features much larger than Shooting Star Terrain Park)

Advanced Rails/Boxes:  48’ battleship rail, 40’ flat-down rail, 32’ straight rail, 25’ flat down rail, 24’ mailbox, 20’ shot-gun rail, and a 20’ rainbow box
Advanced Features:  spines, rollers, hips, step-ups, and step-downs

Funboxes:  Boxes built into the snow with metal coping around the perimeter of the box and a sheet of plastic over the entire top of the box.  The plastic provides a nice slick surface for sliding across.  Funboxes are typically designed for learning how to use the rails.

Rails:  All are made out of 4” x 2” rectangular metal tubing, with the exception of the 20’ shotgun rail which is made out of two 2” round pipes side by side.  The more advanced rails will be higher off the ground, and some are kinked.  The ramps may or may not have a gap to the rails.

Shooting Star Half Pipe

(entry-level/advanced)

This pipe is made solely out of snow with only 3-4' high walls thus requiring a little amount of snow before opening.  This half pipe is near the end of the Shooting Star Progression Park and is accessible by the Morning Star quad  without returning to the base area.  The pipe is up to 100’ long.

Morning Star Half Pipe

(advanced/expert level)

This pipe is unique in the region as it is carved right out of the earth, requiring less snow to open.  Most pipes are made solely out of snow, requiring a significant amount of snow before opening.  This half pipe is near the end of the Morning Star trail and is accessible by the Morning Star quad lift (terrain park and pipe are viewable from the quad chairs) without returning to the base area.  The pipe is up to 425’ long and has 12’ walls.

To provide the best contoured profile and surface, Bristol has invested in a state-of-the-art Zaugg pipe groomer.  Combined with additional snowmaking added recently, Bristol's half pipe will reign supreme in western/central New York

Smart Style Safety Initiative

Being Implemented for the Terrain Parks

Smart Style is a terrain park safety initiative that began in 2001 with the help of the National Ski Areas Association (NSAA), Burton Snowboards, and a host of other contributing sponsors.  The goal of Smart Style is to educate riders about freestyle terrain safety.  The orange oval is a symbol used to designate freestyle terrain and is usually posted at the top of the terrain park or pipe.  The three main points of Smart Style include:  "Look Before You Leap," "Easy Style It," and "Respect Gets Respect."  These three points are safety benchmarks for terrain park users.  To learn more about Smart Style, check out the NSAA's Freestyle Terrain website or visit the Terrain Park Safety website.
